Product Favourites | 2017 Yearly Favourites

SO THIS YEAR SUCKED. Like seriously sucked. From health troubles, an operation, a relationship that battered me mentally and emotionally and then walking out of a toxic work environment. But onwards and upwards. Next year is full of exciting adventures, wonderful friends and my incredible job, in a fairer and more balanced environment.

So this year was pants. BUT this year was a great year for product discovery as not only did I have more of a disposable income, but I visited various countries which meant Duty Free and Sephora! But these products have certainly been the ones that have made the most impact to my makeup routine and I get a thrill out of using. They work a dream and make me feel a little more confident when wearing them! Which is very important, as my self confidence is very low!

Moisturiser/Primer – Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre

When I ordered this about a year ago, it changed the way my makeup looked. I have very dehydrated skin, but an oily t zone, so too much moisture ends up making me look greasy but going without a moisturiser leaves me a crusty mess. I’m really selling myself aren’t I! But the fact that this is is also a makeup base, gives it a tackier feel when set, so allows my base makeup to adhere to, increasing longevity!

Foundation – NARS Sheer Glow (Gobi)

This foundation. Oh my goodness. It is my perfect shade, for one, a pale but yellow based colour. But the way it sits on my face. It is the perfect Satin finish, not too dewy or too matte. I am using it sparingly because I love it so much, and gives me the most confidence. The coverage is medium but buildable. It is just perfection in every which way!

Concealer – L.A. Pro Conceal (Porcelain)

I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered this on a whim. It isn’t the standard cakey concealer consistency and looks very natural on the face. Yet it provides coverage. And it is around Β£5! Bargain!

Powder – Kiko Radiant Fusion Baked Powder (01)

I heard this Powder was compatible to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, so was curious as Powder is stunning (but expensive so I’m using it sparingly). But this Powder is similar, in terms of illumination, but it does provide a little more coverage also. It is very finely milled Powder which prevents caking up in pores and fine lines. It is just luscious!

Bronzer – Jeffree Star Dark Horse

If I had to choose an all time favourite product. Just one. For the entire year. This would be it. You are probably thinking…are you kidding me? Bronze highlight for someone as pale as me? Yes!!! I wear this sometimes only as for me it is a Blush, bronzer and highlight in one. It is a copper shade (soothing my love for all terracotta tones on my cheeks), it warms up my complexion and the gold shimmer provides an excellent highlight! I can’t even. It’s just gorgeous!

Blush – Tarte Blushing Bride

I wanted to get on board with the hype of Tarte blushes. So when I went to America I just had to pick one up. And it is the most beautiful pink flush! It is slightly cool toned, which lifts my face and eliminates my dullness! I highly recommend these blushes!

Highlighter – MAC Extra Dimension Skin Finish (Show Gold)

When I first swatches this…a little bit of me died. It was that stunning! It is this champagne/gold shade but has this hot and icy pink duo chrome! The formula is so sparkly and glittery and when it catches some light it looks gold but then shifts this gorgeous hot pink. I just love it. In fact I loved it so much I bought another one in Soft Frost which is a lilac duo-chrome and it is equally as stunning!

Brows – NYX Tame and Frame Pomade

My initial thought with this was….whoa this is different to Anastasia Beverly Hills. It was sheerer. Turns out I wasn’t using enough product. As soon as I picked up more of it BAM! IT changed my Eyebrow game. Sharp. Precise. I love it. Eyebrows are the most important step to my makeup routine, as mine are so fair and sparse! And this gives me life!

Eyeshadow Base – Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo (Creme De Nude)

I was always a MAC Soft Ochre girl. Mother swayed me. But then I saw that Maybelline did the same sort of thing. The MAC is a lot creamier and thinner in texture. But the Maybelline packs more of a punch, and it allows Eyeshadows to stick like glue onto them! So this is a firm firm favourite of the year! It changed me Eyeshadow longevity for the better!

Eyeshadows – Makeup Geek (Karma, Chickadee, Cocoa Bear, Dirty Martini, Cherry Cola, Desert Sands, Tuscan Sun)

My name is Emily…and I am a Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Addict….they are the most buttery Eyeshadows with the highest pigmentation I have ever used. They are just divine. My favourite look of the year is Desert Sands all over the lid. Then Dirty Martini over the upper lash line. Then a blending the two colours together and fading it into the crease. Then I heavily apply Dirty Martini under the lash line, blending Desert Sands under neath that in a grungy style. Finally I apply Karma on my inner corner. And I am done. But all the other colours I recommended have been equally used!

Eyeliner – NYX Slide On, Glide On Eyeliners (Golden Bronze, Golden Olive, Glitzy Gold, Jewel, Pretty Violet)

These eyeliner have saved my morning routine. I used to work 10 minutes from my house and could spend a little more time on my makeup for the day. Now I commute, I have 15 minutes max on my face. So wearing these on my eyes, makes me look put together and like I’ve spent time on my makeup. But still only being one product! My favourites of the, all are the Golden Bronze and Golden Olive as they really enhance my eye colour. But the others are gorgeous too.

Mascara – Maybelline The Falsies Mascara (Waterproof Black)

Need I say any more about this mascara. Or provides good volume, length and holds a curl all day! My all time favourite mascara EVER! I’ve had more expensive ones that haven’t worked as well!

Lips – Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick (Rose Matter, Leo, Pumpkin Pie)

These are my favourite formulas of all Liquid Lipsticks. The smell divine, and they have high pigmentation. They are the most comfortable matte lipstick and I love the consistency of them when they first go on and throughout the day! Rose Matter is the most flattering pink on my yellow based complexion. Leo is my go to Nude. It is a deeper warm brown that would probably be my all time favourite of them all! And Pumpkin Pie is a special deep rusty orange that has a hot pink shimmer run through it! It makes me feel very confident!

Brushes – Morphe (M404, E18, MB32), MAC 266

Morphe brushes have been the best discovery of the year! They have saved me a lot of money as I’ve been wanting to build up my collection of brushes, but I didn’t want to break the bank! And thankfully I didn’t. The M404 is a dupe for a MAC brush I had my eye on. And I normally use this to apply my Jeffree Star Dark Horse. It diffuses the pigment perfectly! The E18 helped with the grungy under eye I love to do! It is denser in the centre than the outside so it blends the shadows effortlessly, and with it being small, is precise enough for under the eyes! The MB32 has also enhanced my eyebrow game and then some! I use this for my Pomade and they work magic together!

Skincare – Garnier Micellar Oil Infused Water

I’ve had a lot of game changers this year. But this has cleared up my blemishes! And hydrates my skin as well as removes my makeup! I can’t remember not using it. And wearing waterproof mascara, I am used to the eye tugging, and the fact is removes it so well makes it s dream!

I would love to know what your favourites have been this year…not that I need any more convincing to buy any more makeup…but you know…why not!

I hope you found this interesting!

Thank you for reading!
