FIRST IMPRESSION | Ciate Glitter Flip Liquid Lipsticks + Lip Swatches!

I was so intrigued by these when I saw these, but couldn’t really afford them at the time so forgot about them. But I was scrolling through gift sets and saw that these were on sale during Black Friday so I thought it would be a perfect way of trying them! The full size product is Β£17 each. And I managed to get these for Β£8.40 per duo! The shades got were Valentine, Forbidden, Whisper and Surreal! I thought this gave me a nice mix of neutral and bold shades so I can see how consistent the formulas were of the shades!

The formula is very thin but packing a punch in terms of pigment, they are very much one coat only shades and you get the desired coverage! The darker the shade the most sparkly they look during application. But then you do the magic tricks. Rub your lips together and then the glitter is activated! And it makes it look so dimensional and gorgeous! All glitters are different and depend on which shade you buy. So they don’t all have silver or gold glitter! Some of them are really effective! They dry down matte, but a comfortable matte. And don’t feel chunky or glittery.

Shades from left to right : Surreal, Whisper, Forbidden and Valentine!

Due to the texture being so lightweight they don’t last the best. I wore Surreal to see my grandparents over Christmas and didn’t eat or drink anything but I was still left with just a line around the outside of my lips after around 4 hours of chattering. Granted, I chat a lot, but still! I would need to bright this along with me on a day out so I could top it up! Not the most immaculately wearing liquid lipstick. For comparison I can wear my Jeffree Star Liquid Lips for 7 hours straight while eating and drinking! And my Gerard Metal Matte Liquid Lipsticks lasted through a dentist appointment! So it can be done to have a comfortable thin formula and it to still last!

I love the packaging, very lightweight but pretty special! Which you want given the price tag being on the higher end! The lid is super cute, with the glitter. But it isn’t scratchy and gross. It is very smoothly textured! I love them! You get 1.5ml in the minis but the full size you get 3ml so to get half is a good deal! And as they are so pigmented you don’t need to dip back into the product to get a second layer! Which is somewhat cost effective! Very pleased!

In the next part of this post I’m going to give you my opinion on the shades that I got and what I like about that shade and some looks I think this would go well with!

Valentine – This shade is the perfect peach shade for my skin tone! The perfect balance of pink and orange! And then when you run your lips together you get this gorgeous lilac, blue holographic glitter shift which is stunning! I love pairing a peachy lip with a deep smokey eye but some sort of purple/blue look would look cohesive with the glitter! The MAC Extra Dimension Skin Finish in Soft Frost would look stunning with this, or the NARS eyeshadows in Lunar or MAC eyeshadow in Stars and Rockets all over the lids would look cute on the eyes with this lip! Maybe Urban Decay Bittersweet Blush would look, striking with this lip!

Surreal – This shade is the perfect deep berry pink! And it shifts to a gorgeous blue! Almost sky blue, but it will make your teeth look whiter! So I don’t mind what blue it is! The best makeup, in my opinion, to wear with this is a very neutral look with golds to warm the look up due to the lip being such a cool toned shade! The best eyeshadows I think to wear with this is MAC Woodwinked all over the lid, due to its dimensional effect. Or a completely matte eye to give the lip more impact. Maybe Cork, Brun and Blanc Type to highlight! On the cheeks I’d use Tarte’s Blushing Bride! Or MAC Breath of Plum! To stick with the pinky-berry tone!

Whisper – I love this nude shade so much. And that was before the glitter! It is the perfect most flattering pink based nude! It looked gorgeous before I rubbed my lipstick together, then it surprised me…GOLD!! I love golden lipglosses so I really loved how this looked like a lipgloss, but matte! I was so in love! You should have heard the squeal I made! I think this lipstick would go perfect with any look you like! With it being a nude! But when I wore it, I wore it with a burgundy eye look, with a green duochrome and it looked so effective! The greeny gold went well with the green in my eyes! And a peachy pink blush like MAC Peaches or a simple bronzed look, like Jeffree Star Dark Horse would look lovely, too!

Forbidden – I love the depth of the red in this! It’s stunning! It is a very blue toned red which is very flattering on the teeth! The shimmer is a pink/purple when the lips are pressed together. It’s super pretty! This is a very pin up/burlesque style lip. So I really think a bold eyeliner, and sleek contour would look so effective with this! Due to the depth it is a very classy red but the sparkle gives it that little summit summit! So you would want this lip to be the statement, so I would avoid going bold on the eye too otherwise your facial features will all be competing. Some contour, eyeliner and highlight will pair with this lip beautifully without much else, in my opinion! But you do you, you wanna wear a black smokey eye with this, you’ll look hot to trot I’m sure!

All in all I really like the look of these, but the longevity is the only thing that holds them back. They do become patchy quite quickly! But the effect you get is so gorgeous that I really wouldn’t mind reapplying them throughout the day. Plus more magical glitter! What more could you want!

I hope you enjoyed this review! What shades have you tried? I really want to try Candy!

Thank you for reading! πŸ’›
