Lyric Inspired Makeup | Monsters by Katie Sky

I was inspired when listening to Poison Prince by Amy MacDonald to do makeup inspired by the song. So I thought, instead of doing the actual makeup look the artist wears in the music video, what about makeup that this song inspires you to wear! So this is the series! And I hope you enjoy it! Any song recommendations, leave a comment!

When I heard this song I was instantly inspired, I wanted green and I wanted turquoise! These are calm colours to me, and the whole premise of the song “I see your monsters” “I’ll chase them away” so it’s letting you know that everything painful in your life will be taken away, thanks to an amazing person. This song resinated with me because I have struggled with my own “monsters” and have a Mental Health Story written and to be posted…when I’m brave enough… Anyway, I have amazing friends that chased away my monsters. Pink and red for me are colours that indicate danger or provoke anxiety. And I wanted that to be sandwiched between calm colours as though my monsters, still there, but are gradually disappearing! Shadows leaving scars, but they are subtle, the indicate healing! Beautiful song, and I’ve loved Katie Sky, since Sweet Sweet Melody! Gorgeous, sweet and pure voice with such beautiful lyrics!

You can listen to it here :

I started the look with a base, this time I used MAC Painterly Paint Pot. And then took the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Dirty Money and applied that into tithe inner corner and blending that, with a domed concealer brush, into the crease. Then went into Sage from the Lime Crime Venus XL II Palette, and blended that into the crease and inner corner, where we applied Dirty Money. I cut my crease using my e.l.f Camo Concealer. And applied, from the same palette took Stella and Eve and transitioned them over the concealer, Stella on the inner most half and blending that into Eve in the outer most half. I did wet my brush with Eve, for a super intense shimmer! I took my LA Girl Shockwave Neon Eyeliner in Fresh and lined the waterline and quite far under my eye too for a drag/doll like effect. I then set that with my Sugarpill eyeshadow in Kim-Chi. Underneath that, I took Classical, from the Lime Crime Venus XL II palette and ran that directly under Kim-Chi, and then blended In Bloom, from the Lime Crime palette underneath and fanning out, into Eve. I took Sage again, and blended that lower in the inner most portion of my lower lash line and blended that into Classical and In Bloom. This was for a kind of grungy effect. I wanted some sparklemso took my OPV Liquid Glitter Liner in Flash Light just to line around that crease! I then took my Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner and lined my lash line thickly, for an intense drag like look. Finally I applied falsies, this time I used Ardell Wispies, which are my absolute favourite right now! So long but naturally volumised, and like the name suggests…wispy!

And that’s the finished look! I hope you enjoyed this blog post! Let me know what you think of Katie’s song! It’s such a sweet piece of music!
