You are probably aware I am not the biggest believer in primers. I mean, I understand having a layer to allow your makeup to sit smoothly on top is important. But in terms of pore filling and all that, I’m really skeptical! But I heard so much hype surrounding this that I just had to give it a go to understand what it was all about!m
My go to primer is usually a hydrating primer! Or a moisturiser with a smoothing effect. I like the Clinique Pep-Start Hydro Blur, Revolution Skincare Superfruit Extract or my trusty Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre for extra hydration! The Clinique one claims to be blurring and I agree with it making making applying smoothly, but it doesn’t make me look like an after product of Face Tune.
It has a nice texture, and is more hydrating than expected. I thought it would be like a solid POREfessional, but it really wasn’t even remotely similar. It was thicker when I carved some out with my nail, but then it melted into a balm and then a cream like consistency and felt really lovely on the skin! My skin felt nourished and well prepped for make up!
The following pictures are from the process of my makeup application. The first picture shows me with no makeup, just freshly cleanser with cool water and my Pixi Rose Cream Cleanser. I have fairly visible pores, but nothing major. I’m a human, we have pores. They aren’t particularly large but you can see them. The middle picture is on application of the primer, you can see the texture hasn’t really changed on my skin, but it does look hydrated, which is always a bonus for me. The two larger pores were still very much visible! And even the little ones hadn’t reduced at all. The final picture is when I applied my foundation. I used my MUA Pro Base, which is the best matte foundation for my dry skin as it doesn’t exaggerate any dry patches or texture, while still giving me a nice even base. You can see the layer of hydration peeking through, which is wonderful, as I like to feel moisturised at all times! However again, the pores are still very visible!
All in all I like this primer! But for the different reasons it was set out for. In terms of pore filling and blurring, nope. That is all a big gimmick, in general, not just for this product. Nothing can fill in a pore or look or make you look “poreless” and make you look Face Tuned, except the app itself. However it was a lovely layer to wear under makeup! Super creamy and balmy which made me skin feel soft and supple all day! I was very fond of how hydrating it was, something I certainly wasn’t expecting!
