Since slowly falling back in look with the bullet lipstick, I have been reaching more for lip liners. And rediscovered this in my collection! So I thought I would do a full review on these bad boys, so I can tell you whether or not they are worth purchasing!
The packaging are very cohesive with the rest of the NYX packaging which I really like. Only difference compared to the other lip liners is the packaging is it has a matte finish to the pencil, over the vinyl like finish. You do need to sharpen these, which really doesn’t bother me, however I do understand it can be a deal breaker to others! Very easy to sharpen and the lead is sturdy so doesn’t break when sharpened which is fab!
The formulation of these is a lot less creamy as the original ones. It has a sheerer and buildable consistency! And you can get full opacity, it just takes a little bit of building up and warming up on the lips! On the lips they feel very comfortable. They are definitely a very matte finish, but feel so smooth on the lips! They have a thin texture so it doesn’t feel bulky or crusty on the lips. Like I said, smooooooooth! The most exceptional thing of these is the longevity! I have worn them with creamy lipsticks, matte lipsticks and even a gloss and the liner is still visible at the end of the day, and needs removal with my cleansing oil! I was so amazed because the definition you get is so neat, but it lasted so wonderfully! Very impressed!
Rosé All Day – This shade is a lovely warm nude, with both hints of pink and peach! I love wearing this with the MAC lipstick in Peach Blossom or the Jeffree Star Cosmetics The Gloss in I’m The Boss! These shades are very milky and peachy pink so it really enhances those tones in the lip liner!
Lavender and Lace – This is such a lovely mauve shade! I love wearing this with the Smashbox The HoodWitch Gloss Angeles in the shade Ya Heal Me, which really brings out the purple tones of this lip liner! But also this with the MAC lipstick in Creme Cup is so cute, and makes the mauve a little more on the pink side!
Munchies – This is the one I have used the most and I adore this with a pale nude. Such shades as Jeffree Star Cosmetics Lip Ammunition in the shade Birkin Suede; I wore this combo soooo much this year! But also pairing this with a gloss, like the Colourpop Ultra Glossy lip in Fairy Floss!
All in all these are fantastic lip liners, and I would go as far as saying I do prefer them to the regular lip liners from NYX! The matte formulation is so smooth and comfortable but the longevity of these is so impressive! They have become a staple in my collection for sure! And I want more shades now as well!
I hope you enjoyed this blog post! Have you tried these? Any shade recommendations?
Thank you so much for reading!! 💛✨
