And that’s another year done and dusted! And how crazy is that! This year has been hard. Really hard. My health has and is still deteriorating immensely. I’m now losing my ability to draw, I have a lack of sensation in my right foot among other things. However this year also taught me what true love feels like. My boyfriend has been such a rock to me. And has and continues to support me through all of this. From the ill health to the job quitting to the money struggles. He has just been amazing and looks after me like the queen I didn’t realise I deserved to be treated like!
But it is has also made me love blogging to a point of therapy. It is my therapy. I can’t go many places other than me bed or sofa and can’t do much. But I can have my iPad on my lap and type. I can hold a makeup brush and swipe. And I can just about, still apply liquid liner! So all in all, it’s probably the best hobby to have while my abilities are being hindered!
There have been some amazing products I have tried this year thanks to a fantastic wage I had at the beginning of the year. But then having to minimise purchases when I had no money due to ill health causing me to leave my jobs and use almost all of my savings to live on for a few months. But I have still had makeup to try and play with new and old. And thought I would discuss which items are my absolutely legendary, must have, my freaking god I want to smear this all over my face…kinda products!
SKINCARE – I have really gotten into skincare this year thanks to my sister giving my advice. But also my dry skin becoming so uncomfortable that I wanted to do something about it! So I delved into hydrating cleansers, lovely moisturisers, overnight masks (oh so many overnight masks!). And these following items really stood out to me this year!
AM Cleanser – Pixi Rose Cream Cleanser
PM Cleanser – Superfacialist Vitamin C Brightening Facial Oil
Micellar Water/Makeup Remover – Clinique Take The Day Off
Toner – Pixi Glow Tonic
Mist – Caudalie Beauty Elixir
Serum – The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
SPF – La Roche Posay Anthelios Shaka Fluid
Moisturiser – Glam Glow Waterburst Hydrated Glow Moisturiser
Eye Cream – SVR Topialyse Palperbral Anti Itching Eye Cream
Overnight Mask – TONY MOLY Banana Sleeping Pack
Sheet Mask – Garnier Anti Fatigue/Hydrating Sheet Mask
Purifying Mask – Pixi Glow O2 Mask
Lip Balm – Dr Paw Paw Multi Purpose Balm
Lip Treatment – Hurraw Root Beer Lipbalm, Jeffree Star Velour Lip Scrub
FACE – My face has been so dry this year and quite difficult to (look at) deal with. Sometimes it’s spotty, sometimes it’s flakey but it always feels so tight and dehydrated! So I’ve wanted products to make me look flawless and last, but not exaggerate my immense amount of texture! And these items have been fantastic for that!
Primer – Revolution Skincare Supefruit Primer and Serum
Setting Spray – Smashbox Primer Water
Foundation – Fenty Pro Filtr Foundation, Maybelline Dream Urban Cover
Concealer – Colourpop No Filter Concealer
Powder – Bare Minerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo
Blush – MAC Pinch Me/Prism
Bronzer – Too Faced Sweetie Pie Powder Bronzer
Contour – LA Girl Pro Contour Powder Duo
Highlighter – Morphe High Impact Highlighter (Spark)
Palette – BH Cosmetics Duo Light Palette
EYES – Eyebrow game changed, my eyebrow palette collection grew and I relived into nearly every type of eyeliner! So have done alright in terms of exploration into products, it’s safe to say! As my hands are so shaky and I can’t be precise anymore, I can’t do my favourite brows anymore. I can’t carve them out and have them cut a bitch. So I’ve had to work with my abilities and I’m using pencils now, and it’s actually quite nice to have fluffy brows! Never thought I’d say it! But also eyeshadow is one thing I’ve always been able to do and get immense pleasure out of. And I’ve accumulated a fair few new items. But these are the best of the best of the year!
Eyebrows – NYX Micro Brow Pencil (Taupe)
Eye Primer – MAC Painterly Paint Pot
Eyeshadows (Single) – NARS Hardwired Eyeshadows (Lunar, Ecstasy)
Eyeshadows (Palette) – Lime Crime Venus XL II
Eyeliner (Liquid) – Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Eyeliner
Eyeliner (Pencil) – LA Girl Shockwave Neon Eyeliners (Fresh, Screamin, Blackout)
Mascara – Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara
False Lashes – Eylure Enchanted Heartbreaker, Eylure Enchanted Flower Ranger
LIPS – Flipping heck lips have been a struggle this year! My lips have been so crusty, dry and cracked! So sometimes I had to lay off my babies, the matte liquid lipsticks, and swap to a more hydrating formula. And I, dare I say, have enjoyed that! And have discovered some incredible items! I have full lips so they tend to make a statement but these have helped enhance them for the best!
Liquid Lipstick – Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks (Calabasas, Nathan, Baby Daddy, Celebrity Skin), Lime Crime Plushies (Milk Tea) Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lip (Doozy)
Lipstick – MAC Lipsticks (Yash, Verve, Freckletone, Creme Cup)
Lipgloss – Colourpop Ultra Glossy Lip (Fairy Floss), Zoeva Melody Lipgloss (Radiant Flight), Lime Crime Wet Cherry Lipgloss (Naked Cherry), Jeffree Star The Gloss (Crystal Kiss)
Non Beauty Favourites – There has also been some things in my life that I have enjoyed completely unrelated to my beauty obsession (except for YouTube, blog and instagrammer…can’t steer to far away for beauty eh?!). But music has been a big thing for me this year along with a LOT of coffee and horror films! So thought I would give you a peek into some more miscellaneous favourites!

And those are all of my favourite things *queue Julie Andrews’ voice*. I think I’ve mentioned just about everything that has been such a big part of my 2019! Beauty has been massive to me in enjoyment, fulfilment and a therapeutic fashion. Skincare has been a new found adventure. But most of all my boyfriend is my biggest favourite. He’s a delight to be around and provides me with so much support and love. Something I not only thought I’d ever get, but also even deserved! He’s the shiniest gem I wear proudly on my hand and that I can’t stop admiring thinking…wow..he’s mine.
I really hope you enjoyed this blog post!
Thank you so much for reading! 💛✨
